As I have stated in an earlier blog, we are a non-profit school. What exactly does that mean? A non-profit means that all profit earned must be put back into the business… or in this case the school. It also means that the school is tax exempt. A non-profit business must have the designation of 501(3)© by the IRS. We are currently in process of applying for that designation. In the meantime, you may ask… how the school will pay for bills or curriculum or teachers if it does not make a profit? Where does that income come from?
As a non-profit we make the majority of our income from donations and grants. We also will be collecting some tuition, but that is not enough to cover all the expenses of the school which means we have to rely on like minded people, who believe that students need to be outside and engaged in learning, to help us make this school a reality!
You may ask if your monetary donation or in-kind donation is tax deductible if we do not currently have the 501(3)© designation from the IRS. Our fiscal sponsor, Institute for Education, Research, and Scholarship (IFERS), will be accepting donations for us which means they WILL BE tax deductible.
We have high hopes that the school will be up and running by the fall of 2022. To do that we need to raise the money needed to provide curriculum, safety equipment, science equipment, transportation, etc.
If you are interested in making a donation, you can click on this link. If you would like to send a check or make an in-kind donation, please reach out to us! If you would like more information, we would love to hear from you!
Together we can change the results of education for students who choose to learn outside with us at Natural Connections Academy!
